Technology Transfer for Cloud Seeding

From operational experience to local autonomy

Based on its operational experience in Cloud Seeding, Mettech offers structured technology transfer programs that enable countries and organizations to develop their own cloud seeding capabilities.

The program is designed to provide full technical and operational autonomy, allowing institutions to design, manufacture, operate, and maintain cloud seeding systems with locally trained personnel.

Instead of permanent reliance on external operators, Mettech supports the creation of sustainable in-country capacity.

A structured 9 to 12-month program offering long-term autonomous operational capability.

AREAS OF OPERATION

From Operation to Autonomy

Unlike traditional providers, Mettech combines its operational experience in cloud seeding with proprietary technology development and capacity building.

All Mettech solutions are based on proven technologies, consolidated scientific principles, and transparent operational processes.

Focus on Long-Term Sustainability

Mettech offers integrated Cloud Seeding programs covering the design, implementation, operation, and maintenance of systems.

This operational experience lays the foundation to train governments and institutions to develop their own capacity to use this technology.

Mettech is both a technology developer and operator, ensuring that the transferred systems are designed for real-world conditions.

Field-proven technology that can be fully transferred.

OUR COLLABORATIONS

Sectors We Serve

Mettech collaborates with public and private organizations responsible for water resource management, agricultural production protection, and climate resilience strengthening.

PUBLIC SECTOR

Governments and Public Institutions

We support ministries, national meteorological services, and public agencies in implementing climate technologies to ensure water supply and strengthen national water security.

STATE MANAGEMENT

Ministries, national meteorological services, and public agencies responsible for water security.

We provide infrastructure and continuous operation, even in hard-to-reach areas, to ensure water monitoring and supply in the country.

PRODUCTION

Agriculture and Food Security

We protect agricultural production through solutions that ensure the availability of water resources against prolonged drought seasons.

ENVIRONMENT

Water Resource Management

We apply cutting-edge technology for precipitation stimulation, directly supporting the recharge of natural and artificial water sources.

SUPPLY

Authorities and public services responsible for reservoirs, watersheds, and regional water supply.

We facilitate snowpack increase and the recovery of key reservoirs to ensure vital supply to communities and entire regions.

ENERGY

Hydroelectric Power Plant Operators

We maximize power generation potential by stimulating snow and rain accumulation in the plants' direct catchment areas.

INDUSTRY

Mining

We ensure operational continuity in mining sites through water management in extreme conditions, under the strictest high-mountain standards.

WHERE WE OPERATE

Presence in Latin America

Mettech operates through its companies and technical teams established in Latin America, facilitating regional implementation and long-term project support.

We serve programs throughout Latin America and countries worldwide.

OUR PROJECTS

Project Portfolio

Cachapoal River Basin
Flag of Chile

Region VI, Chile 2000 - 2021

Multisectoral Strategic Alliance: This program represents a milestone in collaborative water management, uniting the most relevant actors in the region to ensure water supply.

Contracting Parties: El Teniente Division of Codelco Chile, Pacific Hydro S.A., and the Cachapoal River Supervisory Board (1st section).

Results: 32% increase in the Cachapoal River flow.

Cauto River Basin

Holguín, Cuba 2005 - 2011

Innovative program in tropical climates carried out year-round with a deployment of 25 installed Generators.

Contracting Parties: Civil Aviation Institute of Cuba and Ministry of Science, Technology, and Environment of Cuba.

Results: 14 to 17% increase in precipitation. – Analysis conducted by the Meteorological Institute of Cuba.

Tuy River and Uribante River Reservoir Basins

Venezuela 2009 - 2011

Collaborative program with the Cuban project where a network of 12 Generators was installed in two important basins of the country.

Contracting Parties: National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology (INAMEH), Venezuela, and Ministry of Science, Technology, and Environment of Venezuela.

Results Achieved: 10 to 12% increase in precipitation. Analysis conducted by the National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology (INAMEH).

Petorca Province
Flag of Chile

Region V, Chile 2012 (ongoing)

Program initiated due to the severe water deficit suffered by the region, contracted by private entities with state contributions.

Contracting Parties: Private contributions from companies and farmers in the region.

Results Achieved: 18% increase in precipitation. Based on statistical analyses performed by our company with rainfall data from the stations of the General Water Directorate of Chile.

Aconcagua River Basin
Flag of Chile

Region V, Chile 2012 (ongoing)

Program designed for snow accumulation in the upper part of the Aconcagua River Basin. Carried out since 2012, it started as a regional project and is now focused specifically on this basin.

Contracting Parties: Aconcagua River Supervisory Board First Section, Codelco Andina, Esval.

Results Achieved: 10% increase in precipitation. Analysis conducted by the National Irrigation Commission of Chile (CNR) 2013.

Technical Development Study

TECHNICAL INQUIRIES

Frequently Asked Questions about Weather Modification

Answers based on scientific evidence and our operational experience in precipitation stimulation programs.

What is the actual effectiveness of cloud seeding?

Our programs and historical measurements indicate an average precipitation increase of 15% in target areas, depending on the meteorological conditions of each season.

We use a Silver Iodide solution, produced under strict quality standards. It is the most efficient and safe nucleating agent for cold cloud stimulation.

It is a model in which Mettech designs and installs the generator network, but trains the contracting institution so they can operate and manage the program themselves over the long term.

It is a pilot technology aimed at artificially increasing the snowpack on glaciers during the winter. This extra layer acts as an insulator, delaying melting and extending the glacier’s lifespan.
